Hello, so good to meet you!
Meet Henriette
Originally born in Germany, I first moved to Australia in 2007. I initially lived in Hobart, TAS but now call Melbourne’s inner west my home.
I grew up as the second of 5 kids and absolutely LOVED having a big family. I always knew I wanted kids (after I had my first I quickly realised I definitely couldn’t raise 5 though!), I’ve worked as a babysitter, nanny and au-pair and generally thought I was well equipped to raise a child.
When our first daughter was born in 2017 we were faced with the reality of sleep deprivation, the mental spiral this can create and completely feeling at a loss why this child doesn’t want to sleep.
After seven months, my mental health was at rock-bottom and we were desperate for help! While we did use traditional sleep training, it just never sat right with me. My intuition was telling me I needed to be WITH my child, rather than denying her comfort.
When our second daughter was born in 2018 I started doing more research into the biology of sleep, what actually impacts it, how it’s connected to our temperament, lifestyle, etc. In 2021 I decided to make it official and became a Certified Sleep Consultant.
My goal is to empower, educate and support parents as they are working towards sleep goals.
The most important thing I have learned in my time as a mother and sleep consultant is that listening to your gut instinct is one of the best things you can do when it comes to your child.
Noone knows your child well as you.
So I’m here to tell you, you don’t have to “wait it out” if something isn’t working for you, neither do you have to use traditional sleep training methods. There is a perfect middle that we can achieve by helping our child in a responsive manner that keeps healthy child development in mind.
I regularly keep up to date with the newest research in the baby sleep and development space. Baby sleep is about bringing together evidence-based research, your gut instincts and looking at your individual family situation.
I am available for phone, email and home consultations (Melbourne area only).
I can help.
Everything naps, routines and associations
Whether you have a catnapper on your hands, a baby that will only fall asleep being rocked or fed or simply want a more sustainable routine. I have seen it all and together we will work towards your goal.
Moving on from cosleeping
This is a really common theme, whether it be from accidental or intentional co-sleeping, at some point it might not be working for your family and you are looking at making a gentle transition.
Bedtime, overnight wakes & early mornings
I think everybody expects some degree of sleep deprivation when it comes to babies. But if the overnight wake-ups or early mornings are having a negative impact, I can support you in making a shift towards more restful nights.
